Needham Public School Performing Arts Student Accepted to 2022 All-National Honor Choir

Updated: Nov 23, 2022

The Needham Public Schools Performing Arts Department is proud to announce that senior Leyna Blume was selected to perform with the NAfME (National Association for Music Education) Honor Choir. Two classmates, Jack Carnahan and Brendan Mawhinney, were selected as alternates.

Leyna, Jack and Brendan are active members of our NHS Chorale and have been recognized for their musical excellence through participation in the Massachusetts District and All-State festivals. Their acceptance into the Massachusetts All-State Choir qualified them to submit an audition for the All-National Choir this year. Leyna was selected as a finalist!

This year, the NAfME All-National Honor Ensemble (ANHE), is taking place November 3-6 in National Harbor, Maryland. It will be a collaboration of the top performing high school musicians in the United States. So much more than a musical showcase, the ANHE program is a comprehensive and educational experience. The 2022 ensembles will meet under the leadership of top conductors in the field of music education.

Leyna Blume shared “I'm so excited to create music with singers from all over the country through this amazing opportunity!”

We congratulate Leyna on this wonderful accomplishment and for representing the Department, School and Community so well!
