MARCHING BAND

Marching Band & Color Guard is an exciting and enthusiastic group that creates a strong community among its members. Participants learn music, field formations, and flag work that is performed in the half-time show at varsity football games and as pep music played in the stands. Marching Band also performs in competitions, at special events, and at parades. Music or dance experience is great but not required. Students may choose to learn  a new instrument for Marching Band. In the fall, rehearsals are two weekday afternoons (typically Mondays and Wednesdays) and Saturdays, with a pre-season camp the week before school starts. The annual highlight is performing during the oldest Thanksgiving Day football rivalry in the country where Needham plays against Wellesley.

Marching Band is a wonderful opportunity to quickly make new friends in grades 8-12, enjoy music, and have fun! For more information about this official NHS Student Activity, contact the NHS Fine & Performing Arts Department.
