Vocal Support is a benefit concert, featuring a cappella singing at the high school level and beyond, raising money for a good cause. Realizing the importance of music in their own lives, as well as the absence of access to music instruction for many students in Massachusetts, the singers of the NHS a cappella groups have decided once again to donate the proceeds from this year’s concert to the organization Music & Youth, which aims to “give young people in underserved communities the opportunity to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills while fostering an appreciation of music”. Several urban communities in the Greater Boston area are served by Music & Youth including Dorchester, Hyde Park, Allston, Mission Hill, Roxbury, Chelsea, Everett, Lynn, Charlestown and Lawrence.

This year’s concert will be held at the Needham High School Auditorium on Saturday night, May 10, 2014. The concert starts at 7:30 pm, and the auditorium doors open at 7:00 pm. Ticket Sales (if not sold out) and Will Call will start at 6:45 pm. We are expecting a sold out performance and encourage everyone to get their tickets early. The performance is recommended for students ages 8 and up. Please click here for information on how to purchase tickets in advance of the event.

Enrollment in the NHS music programs is at an all-time high.
More than 300 students are enrolled in the bands, choruses and orchestra for the 2013-2014 school year.

Dear NHS Friends of Music Members, Parents and Alumni,

Needham is incredibly fortunate to have an abundance of musical talent at the high school.  For the first time, four NHS students were selected for Nationals in Nashville. Last year eight students made All-State. This year, enrollment tops 300.

We Need Parents to Support NHS Friends of Music The NHS Friends of Music “FOM” is the non-profit “booster club” for music students and faculty.  We work closely with Dr. David Neves and the music teachers to help provide resources and opportunities that result in those special moments we look forward to every year:  concerts, musical theatre, soloists, half-time shows.

With enrollment at an all-time high, and anticipated to grow significantly over the next few years, the role of FOM and support from parents is more important than ever!  We are asking for your help in continuing to support all of the music students with a tax-deductible contribution to Friends of Music.

All Donations Go Back to the Students 100% of your donation to FOM will directly help the performing arts students and technical groups at Needham High School in many ways.  (Please see back of letter for details - provided by your generous donations.)
